The economy of South Sumatra Province based on the amount of Gross Regional Domestic Product (PDRB) at the current price of the first quarter of 2021 reached Rp. 116.55 trillion and at constant 2010 prices reached Rp. 78.39 trillion.
The economy of South Sumatra Province in the first quarter of 2021 against the first quarter of 2020 (y-on-y) contracted 0.41 percent. From the production side, the highest contraction occurred in the Transportation and Warehousing Business Field, which fell by 13.54 percent. Meanwhile, from the expenditure side, it was caused by the component of household consumption expenditure which contracted by 5.17 percent.
The economy of South Sumatra Province in quarter I-2021 when compared to the previous quarter (q-to-q) contracted by 0.02 percent. From the production side, the highest contraction occurred in the Government Administration, Defense and Compulsory Social Security Business Field, which fell by 11.04 percent. Meanwhile, from the expenditure side, it was caused by the component of government consumption expenditure which contracted by 46.38 percent.
The GRDP structure of South Sumatra Province according to business fields based on the current price for the first quarter of 2021 does not show any significant changes. The economy of South Sumatra is still dominated by three main business fields, namely: Manufacturing Industry by 19.93 percent; Mining and quarrying 18.15 percent; and Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries 15.51 percent. Meanwhile, from the expenditure side, the final demand activity is still dominated by the Household Consumption Expenditure Component (PK-RT) which covers more than half of the GRDP of South Sumatra Province. Other components that have a major role in the GRDP in succession are Gross Fixed Capital Formation (PMTB); Overseas Exports; and Government Consumption Expenditure (PK-P); while the role of the PK-LNPRT Components and Inventory Changes has a relatively small role.
