Hello #SahabatData, National Awakening Day (Harkitnas) is celebrated every May 20 to commemorate the history of youth movements in Indonesia and is also described as a spirit of unity, oneness and nationalism fighting for Indonesian independence.

Reported by the Ministry of Education and Culture (Kemdikbud), the history of National Awakening Day is based on the founding of an organization called Boedi Utomo which was founded on May 20 1908. The organization was founded by Dr. Soetomo and the students of the School tot Opleiding van Indische Artsen (STOVIA) based on the idea of ​​Wahidin Sudirohusodo who wanted to raise the spirit of struggle and awareness of the Indonesian people in fighting for independence during the Dutch colonial period. The commemoration of National Awakening Day was officially established through Presidential Decree Number 316 of 1959.

The theme raised to commemorate the 116th National Awakening Day in 2024 is "Rise to a Golden Indonesia". This theme was chosen with the aim that this year's Harkitnas can bring the values ​​of enthusiasm and strength to rise towards a Golden Indonesia.
