Abstract

The number of workforce in South Sumatra Province in February 2021 was 4.44 million people, up 115.2 thousand people compared to August 2020. In line with the increase in the number of workers, the Labor Force Participation Rate (TPAK) also increased by 1.30 percentage points.
• The Open Unemployment Rate (TPT) for February 2021 was 5.17 percent, down 0.34 percentage points compared to August 2020 at 5.51 percent

• The population working in South Sumatra Province in February 2021 was 4.22 million people, an increase of 123.7 thousand people compared to August 2020. Employment that experienced the largest percentage increase was Education Services (1.11 percentage points). Meanwhile, the sectors that experienced the largest decline were Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (2.14 percentage points).

• A total of 2.75 million people (65.18 percent) work in informal activities, a decrease of 0.08 percentage points compared to August 2020.
• The percentage of underemployed workers decreased by 1.61 percentage points, while the percentage of part-time workers increased by 0.93 percentage points compared to August 2020.
• There are 390.5 thousand people (6.14 percent of the working age population) who have been affected by Covid-19. Consisting of unemployment due to Covid-19 (27.8 thousand people), not the Labor Force (BAK) because of Covid-19 (16.0 thousand people), while unemployment due to Covid-19 (20.5 thousand people), and residents working who experienced a reduction in working hours due to Covid-19 (326.1 thousand people).
