INCREASING ECONOMIC GROWTH AND INFLATION MANAGEMENT IN LAHAT REGENCY

On Tuesday (31/1) at the Operation Room of the Lahat Regency Government, the Lahat Regency Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda) took place. The Forkopimda was led by Deputy Regent of Lahat, H. Haryanto, S.E., M.M and was attended by the relevant OPD, vertical agencies in Lahat Regency, and sub-district heads throughout Lahat Regency. This meeting discussed several efforts to strengthen economic growth and control inflation in Lahat Regency.

BPS Lahat Regency represented by Rima Kurnia, S.Kom, M.Si., and Etika Suryandari, S.Si.,M.T., Young Expert Statistics, on this occasion also conveyed economic growth in Lahat Regency and inflation developments in South Sumatera Province. The highest contributor to GRDP is the mining and quarrying sector with 35,74%. Meanwhile, the cumulative year to date (ytd) inflation rate in South Sumatra from January to December 2022 is the same as the year on year (yoy) inflation of 5,94%.

The Deputy Regent Lahat conveyed a number of things, including: strategic steps were needed to anticipate a long drought, accelerate the realization of the budget for inflation control, and appeal to sub-district heads to socialize to the community about growing vegetables.

As an effort to increase economic growth, it is hoped that the local government will focus more on encouraging the progress of the tourism sector which will have an impact on opening jobs and increasing micro-enterprises, so that it will not only increase PAD but also can improve the welfare of the community, especially around tourist sites.

A few steps that will continue to be taken as an effort to tackle inflation in Lahat Regency, include: market operations, inspections to markets and distributors, cooperation with commodity producers to expedite supply, planting activities such as cayenne pepper and vegetables, as well as support for road access and transportation to expedite distribution.
